Depart for Sonoma Wine Country; wine and local food pairing at Seghesio Family Vineyards. The Mendocino Hotel transports you effortlessly from the San Francisco area airport to our first stop in Sonoma where you will experience the opportunity to sit and relax away from a busy tasting room bar to enjoy wine as it was intended...around a table with food and friends. The newly opened “Family Tables” pairs a limited wine selection with seasonal tastes of Seghesio Family recipes.
Meet Chef Jon Helquist, whose nineteen years of experience began at Chez Panisse, and the Martini House as he prepares and serves recipes showcasing the bounty of Sonoma County.
Located where wine has fermented for over a century before gravity flowing into the cellar below, the room overlooks the cellar and feature tables crafted by Ed and David Seghesio from the large redwood tanks once housed here.
Your seating will be scheduled through The Mendocino Hotel from 10:00 am with the day’s final seating at 3:30pm.
You may also choose a second or alternative tasting experience at Healdsburg’s Kendall-Jackson Wine Center and enjoy a special Wine & Food Pairing created by Executive Chef Justin Wangler which focuses on the winery’s small-production, limited-release wines, including Highland Estates and Stature wines. In this seated tasting experience, you will sample from a plate of delectable original recipes developed specifically to pair with the day’s featured wines. The Wine & Food Pairing reflects the seasonal nature of the 2 1/2-acre Kendall-Jackson culinary garden where the ingredients are harvested. Your visit will be scheduled through The Mendocino Hotel from 10:00 am with the day’s final seating at 3:30pm.
Then depart for the historic town of Mendocino, travelling to the Ocean through the Anderson Valley where you will enjoy a Wine tour and tasting at Navarro Vineyards or Goldeneye Vineyards.

Schedule a massage for one or two in your room or the Hotel’s Doll House Spa on the Hotel’s 2 acres of lush Victorian gardens. Commence the day with a classic country American Breakfast in the Garden Room overlooking the Ocean with freshly brewed organic coffee. The Mendocino Hotel Garden Room is the perfect setting for breakfast or lunch. This casual setting is a perfect venue to relax and features house-made soups from scratch every day, organic salads, classic entrées and local fresh fish, homemade pizzas and specialties including the Hotel’s famous Ollalieberry Pie. Select local organic wines from small boutique local wineries.. Admire the carefully restored Mendocino Hotel which was lovingly restored by its owner, and then step outside the antique beveled-glass front doors to enjoy a walking tour of the historic village with a copy of the locally produced guidebook “Mendocino Outdoors” and visit some of the dozens of restored and carefully Victorian buildings and shop until you drop! You may choose to enjoy a “Big River Interpretive Walk”. Participants venture down the Big River Main Haul Road with a Big River docent, learning about the Big River estuary, the cultural history of Mendocino, the birds and animals of the Big River and redwood ecology. “Big River Interpretive Walks” offer participants an excellent opportunity to learn more about this unique area of the Mendocino Coast while enjoying beautiful views of the estuary and the redwoods.
Have lunch in The Mendocino Hotel Garden Room before embarking on your afternoon’s adventure tour of the Point Cabrillo Light House or the bucolic Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens offers everything from colorful displays to thunderous waves. The mild maritime climate makes it a garden for all seasons, attracting gardeners and nature lovers alike. Manicured formal gardens, a dense coastal pine forest, fern-covered canyons, diverse plant collections, and flower-filled coastal bluffs overlooking the blue Pacific Ocean are among the many attractions. Whale watchers can take shelter in the Cliff House to view winter and spring migrations, bird lovers will delight in the over 150 species of birds that live in or visit the Gardens annually. All this and more awaits you.
After another scrumptious breakfast in The Mendocino Hotel Garden Room, spend your day exploring the unique shops in the village, schedule a Skunk Train trip, or simply take a picnic lunch or a local artisan cheese plate and enjoy the Headlands and watch the whales! Sample “flights” of locally-produced Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley, and then a casual Bistro dinner or fine dining in the Victorian Dining Room.
Sip cappuccino and enjoy breakfast overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the Hotel before embarking on your return trip to the San Francisco Bay area. Pause at the Roederer Tasting Room in Philo, where you may taste the first California sparkling wine produced by Champagne Louis Roederer, further building upon a 200-year tradition of fine winemaking from this family-owned company. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Navarro Vineyards, and then return to the San Francisco Bay Area.
