Rave Restaurant Reviews

“"My husband and I went to the Mendocino Hotel for a late night drink and snack after attending a wedding in Mendocino. We went to the bar area and sat at one of the table against the windows were we could people watch. They have a full bar, with many good brews on tap, but I chose to have a Bloody Mary, it was SO good, that I ended up getting another. My husband enjoyed one of the local brews on tap and we shared the fish and chips, which were incredible. They were so fresh and not at all greasy. I highly recommend this as a place to grab a quick drink or bite to eat.”     — Pinofan on TripAdvisor, July 2012

“"Our first night in Mendocino, we were looking for good food - especially oysters. The folks at Albion River Inn had recommended the Mendocino Hotel. While oysters weren't on the menu, Melissa (who was working the bar) said she thought there may be some in the kitchen. They put together a beautiful plate for my boyfriend. I had a burger and local pinot - both phenomenal. (This was after several tastings to determine which wine.) The service, and food, could not have been better. A lovely welcome to a town I plan on visiting again.”     — Keri S. on TripAdvisor, July 2012

“"Dinner was excellent! You hit the jackpot with your new Chef Joe Brown. I am a chicken fanatic and to date the best has been at Daniel Boulud’s in New York....before Joe. If a chef can do chicken well, it is the ultimate challenge, and Joe’s is the best.”     — Proprietor Moira Conzelman, Harmonique Winery, February 16, 2009

Zagat Survey“The new chef brings a new zest to the Californian menu, agree admirers who find it a joy to sit in The Mendocino Hotel’s supposedly haunted Victorian dining room with dark but charming period decor, or the more casual Garden Room and nosh on traditional and unusual dishes. Check out the beautiful wood bar in the lobby and sip a drink under the stained-glass dome—it’s quite the local gathering spot.”

“Our Club had a great time on Saturday night. I have received so many compliments on our Winemaker’s dinner. I hope you pass along our thanks for a memorable night. The food and wine exceeded our expectations and the kitchen and wait staff were over the top. The dinner and wine were perfectly matched down to the last detail. And you can quote me.”
